Movie reviews by Ashley

Surprisingly Good

Posted : 3 months ago on 6 July 2008 04:31 (A review of The Fan)

Just came across this the other day on TV and was surprised to find that it was pretty good. Robert DeNiro plays freaky sooooo well in this movie. Almost too well.

Eh...

I have to say that the ending is pretty disappointing. It's not necessarily predictable, but yeah, it's close.

I will say that it was filmed pretty cool though. Like, some parts really resembled the kind of style of Sin City which I thought was amazing.

Jim Carrey did a good job as a serious actor though, it was no 'Majestic' but it was ok.

Overall though, I've seen better, way better.

Obviously amazing...

I really wished I was around when it came in out in the movie theaters when it was way ahead of it's time. I mean its still an excellent movie and I give it tons of respect for doing what it did when it came out. There's honestly been no movie that was as culturally shocking as Star Wars. No fans will ever be more devoted either. And what a great twist in the end... honestly, you could probably go anywhere in the world and every single person would know what you meant when you said "Luke, I am your father."

Basically, I love this movie and it was great when I was little, but I'm sad to see the death of it all.

One of my favorites...

I can see why people don't like it I guess, maybe they just have never been on any kind of meds. Even I had to say the first time I saw it I was like wtf... but after it sank in, and after I watched it again I was hooked. Donnie is such a complex character in this. It's like a modern day Catcher in the Rye. Not to mention, the soundtrack is also excellent.

Excellent book and movie...

It's actually one of the few instances where the movie might be better than the book... but in the end, I can't really decide. They're both fantastic, although one will lead you through the story with a different mindset than the other. I'd almost suggest watching the movie first.

Regardless of that... the movie is still amazing. Jack Nicholson is the man, although every single actor in this movie is really solid. Louise Fletcher honestly makes you hate her character so much, she does an amazing job. Each one is exactly how I would've portrayed them in the book. Overall, yeah, one of my favorites of all time.

Stellar

One of my favorite movies of all time! Jean Paul Gaultier did the most amazing job ever with the costumes. The entire environment is so well put together and it's really one of the best futuristic movies there are in that aspect. Not only that but Leeloo is one of the best female leads ever due to the fact that she is both adorable and deadly at the same time.
Yeah, just an amazing movie overall.

this is definitely the most messed up movie ive ever seen. i probably shouldntve given it such a high score but i was honestly just intrigued by it. each single character and their story was sickening but i still couldnt turn away. it honestly just gave me the worst nervous stomach ache of my life and it was really disturbing, more than any gory horror flick ive ever seen. id never watch it again but id still reccomend it.
